Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) Dog

Ruby the Dog needs a home

Ruby is a 10 year old spayed Labrador Retriever who loves nothing more than to give love and receive it! She is an energetic senior who loves to go for walks with a Gentle Leader on to help her with leash manners. 30 minute walks are about her maximum, she will let you know when she is ready to start heading home by walking up driveways!

She is very social, sweet and is a talker – not a barker – but she likes to moan and groan to express how she is feeling. Sometimes when you give her attention, she will whine with happiness. We affectionately call it her ‘purring.’

Ruby is calm in the house and follows her foster mom around the house, promptly falling asleep nearby. She sleeps in her crate at night as well as when we leave the house, she is quiet and goes in willingly. I suspect she would be fine outside the crate as well. She knows her basic commands and happily comes every time we call her name.

She is being fostered with another dog, and gets along very well with her. She is not possessive of toys or food, she is happy to share her crumbs with her foster sister. Ruby has had no accidents in the house. She does have some small lumps on her belly and one on her side, but the vet assured us they are just fatty lumps. She enjoys car rides and travels quietly. Ruby is a wonderful companion, she has so much love to give and never fails to make us smile every day!
